Ensemble Laude, directed by Elizabeth MacIsaac, is a Women’s Community Choir dedicated to singing multi-cultural choral repertoire AND Early Music (pre-1600). Formerly based at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, we welcome members of the public enthusiastic to pursue a passion for choral and chamber singing, as well as students at institutions such as VCM and UVic.

The Ensemble performs several concerts in the lower island area each year. Members receive instruction in various choral styles, including early voice performance practices. Singers will need good intonation and vocal independence but are not required to have music reading skills. Experienced vocalists are offered solo and small group opportunities within the concert context. Last season Ensemble Laude offered 8 performances all told, raising funds for many different charities and bringing the glories of medieval and world repertoire to choral enthusiasts on Vancouver Island.

You are warmly invited to attend a benefit performance from last season's repertoire on Friday September 11th at St. Saviour's Church, 310 Henry St at 7pm, as an introduction to its first Social Justice Awareness Conference focussed on homelessness. This will offer an opportunity to hear the choir's repertoire as well as supporting the work of the Rainbow Kitchen.

Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings 7:15-8:45 at St. Matthias Church (600 Richmond Avenue at Richardson). Registration and Meet and Greet Night is Tuesday, September 15. Auditions will be held on this occasion for those who have not already met with Elizabeth MacIsaac.
