Ensemble Laude Women's Choir

“Their concerts are so much more than a sequence of choral works – a smoothly integrated arts experience would be more accurate.” – Ian Bullen

About Ensemble Laude

Elizabeth MacIsaac, the creator and artistic director of Ensemble Laude, founded the choir in 1998. Ensemble Laude began with 12 singers, focused solely on medieval music, and has since expanded into a vibrant community choir of up to 40 vocalists. The Victoria-based ensemble currently explores a significantly broader range of works, creating a thread that connects choral repertoire across the centuries.

Ensemble Laude performs several concerts throughout southern Vancouver Island each year, sharing the beauty of early and world music with choral enthusiasts and raising funds for local charities, including the Rainbow Kitchen, The Somenos Women’s Shelter, and Women in Need (WIN). Whenever possible, entry is by donation, as the Ensemble strongly believes in making art and culture accessible to the community, regardless of financial status.
