Ensemble Laude Women's Choir

For many years, Ensemble Laude was under the umbrella of the Victoria Conservatory of Music (VCM) and operated with Elizabeth MacIsaac at the helm. When the choir decided that its goals could best be reached as an independent organization, it was apparent that what was really needed was a board of directors to manage the day-to-day operations of the choir, freeing Elizabeth to focus on the musical experience of both the choristers and our audience.

Thus, in 2009, the Ensemble Laude Choral Society (ELCS) was born. ELCS is a registered non-profit society within British Columbia and is currently applying for charitable status with the Canada Revenue Agency. Like the choir, its purpose is to encourage and promote education and performance of choral music. As such, we focus on the research, performance, and enjoyment of medieval, early, and unique multicultural music, frequently in collaboration with other singers and instrumentalists. ELCS is staffed with a hearty crew of volunteers who are dedicated to ensuring the smooth operation of Ensemble Laude, while allowing themselves to dream big dreams for the choir's future.

This choral season, Ensemble Laude is releasing its first CD, has plans to commission a composition from renowned composer Nicholas Fairbank, is collaborating with dancers to add choreography to some of our music, and has received an invitation to participate and compete in the Kathaumixw International Choral Festival in Powell River in July, 2012. Big dreams indeed!

If you or your business is interested in helping us make these dreams come true, please see our page about donations and sponsorships. Your support of our organization and choir is deeply appreciated.
